About me and my therapy practice

I work with any issues, and with couples and individuals. I am particularly interested in relationships.

Couples

We usually dive in straight away. If you prefer to meet me first, I offer a short half-price session for each member of the couple, separately. Usually, in our sessions, we first focus on how each of you is experiencing the relationship now, including your sexual connection. Next we establish what each of you wants to aim for in your relationship. We discuss, explore, and negotiate around any differences. Then we work to discover what is blocking the relationship from being how each of you wants it to be. We examine and begin to heal those issues. Sometimes, this structure goes out the window, and we follow a path and process which unfolds before us with its own momentum. Both approaches work well! NB: unless it is abusive, it is worthwhile staying in a relationship and working on it, rather than splitting up. If you split up, you take the same issues with you into the next relationship. If, however, you do decide to separate, I will offer you help to do so with mutual respect and dignity.

Individuals

I start by offering you an initial half-price session so you can met me and decide whether you feel right working with me, and so I can see if what I offer is what you seem to need. If we decide to go ahead, we then have regular weekly sessions in which I accompany you on your own unique journey, following your lead, even though you may not know where you are going. Through accepting you as you are in that moment, being real with you, and working to understand you, I create an environment where your hidden resources and inner wisdom can emerge, and where whatever is hindering you can come to light.

COUPLES

Sessions are one and a half hours to allow enough time for each of you. They are at flexible intervals, for as long as you need, which is often not long. Next we establish what each of you wants to aim for in your relationship. We discuss, explore, and negotiate around any differences.
