About me and my therapy practice
About
I work with people who feel that they are 'stuck' with some aspect of their lives. I help them to identify and work through issues and to move forward with their lives
There are many reasons for people feeling ' stuck' and these are often related to anxieties, fears, low self-esteem, depression, relationship challenges or identity and orientation issues.
I offer you a safe space to explore and work through the issues concerning you and to help you to identify a pathway to acceptance, resolution and move-on.
I am a BACP registered Psychotherapist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I draw upon a extended social work career in statutory mental health settings both NHS, LA and third sector organisations and this informs my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice allowing me to work with a diverse range of issues and presentations.
I work from a strengths perspective and my approach is very much about changing behaviours, thoughts and self image to effect positive life changes and help you to achieve your personal aspirations, enhancing positive self esteem.

Practice description
As an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, my approach incorporates humanistic, person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT modalities, which are tailored to a client's individual needs. In our work together I hope to give you a new understanding and provide you with practical tools which will serve you in the future.
I believe that the most important aspect of counselling is a strong therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and their client. I seek to provide a warm, safe, supportive, non-judgmental space, which allows you to challenge established ways of thinking and being. Working together collaboratively I aim to help you evaluate your needs to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, enabling you to make empowered and informed life choices.
If you are anxious or unclear what to expect from counselling or whether it’s really for you please call me and I will be only too happy to answer any questions and talk you through the process with no obligation.
My first session
The first session is spent completing a comprehensive assessment, identifying therapeutic goals and priorities and formulating a flexible Programme of working.
We will work together to identify your preferred approaches, your personal priorities and your measures for success.
This is the foundation upon which the subsequent sessions are based but therapy is flexible to accommodate any challenges and barriers we may encounter along the journey.
Contracts can be short or long term and can be amended according to evolving needs.
