About me and my therapy practice
The Coronavirus Pandemic is an unprecedented situation which has affected us all. The consequences of the pandemic are far-reaching and can be very distressing and disorienting. I am here for you.
Due to the pandemic I am offering counselling sessions online or over the telephone as well as face to face sessions in a covid-secure location.
I am a qualified counsellor with a quiet and calm presence who is dedicated to offering safe, confidential and consistent support to you. My pronouns are she/her.
I offer a welcoming and non-judgemental space for you to focus on yourself and whatever may be causing you distress. This may be anxiety, fear, depression, loneliness, low self-esteem. You may be experiencing a transition of some kind or feeling overwhelmed. You may have experienced a trauma or a bereavement.
Counselling can give you an opportunity to explore and reflect on these feelings. The experience of being heard and understood can provide some immediate relief.
As an Integrative counsellor I have knowledge of a variety of psychological theories which enables me to adapt my approach according to your individual needs. My approach is underpinned by Carl Rogers’ core conditions of Empathy, Honesty, and Unconditional Acceptance. This means I will always honour your experience, I will always be honest with you and I will never judge you.
Our work together may also include discussing your past, to discover how it is affecting your present; the use of creative methods, using pens and paper, playdough and small figures; inviting you to be aware of your bodily sensations; inviting you to express yourself in a new way. Working together at depth in this way we can find a way for you move forward.
I have special interest in bereavement including the loss of a baby. I am an ally to the LGBTQA+ community.
My first session
I offer an introductory session at a reduced rate. At this session I will tell you a little about what you can expect from a counselling relationship with me. I will ask you to tell me a little about yourself and your reasons for seeking my help. This session will give us a chance to meet and get a feel for each other before committing to a longer and deeper relationship.
