About me and my therapy practice

Emotional difficulties can be very difficult to talk about, which can leave us in a very lonely place. The current pandemic crisis might be making things more difficult as it has brought about uncertainty, restrictions, and has distanced us from others. My aim is to offer a safe space where you can feel heard and where your feelings matter. Whether there is a specific difficulty that you are having or you would like to understand yourself better - counselling can help and I am here to help you.

I am a fully qualified, experienced, BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor, offering short-term and open-ended counselling in Central London (London Bridge, Borough) and in North London (Holloway, close to Camden Town, Caledonian Road, Kentish Town, Highbury, Archway).

I offer sessions during the day and evening on weekdays and weekends. Sessions last 50 minutes and normally start on the hour (i.e. 18:00 - 18:50). First exploratory session is free of charge. Subsequent sessions cost £50.

Practice description

My background is in psychology and mental health. For over 9 years, I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a diverse range of difficulties (e.g. low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, self-harm, addictions, psychotic experiences) in different NHS mental health settings, including an inpatient psychiatric unit, crisis service, and a recovery–focused community project. In addition to private practice, I currently also work as a counsellor at a charity counselling centre in Highgate and hold an honorary counsellor’s post at an NHS Talking Therapies service where I work with people with depression and anxiety related difficulties.

 - BSc (hons) Psychology
- MSc Clinical Applications of Psychology
- FY in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
- BACP accredited Practitioner Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (no: 380815), a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) (no: 435756), also a member of the European Counselling Association (no: IM1806S).

As a registered member of the BACP, I am bound to abide by the code of ethical and professional practice which includes ensuring clients' safety and confidentiality, and my commitment to on-going supervision and professional development.

My first session

Beginning therapy can be daunting as there are lots of unknowns. Below is what you may expect from our first meeting.

During our first meeting, we will look at your reasons for seeking therapy and what you would like to gain from it. I will ask some questions about your current circumstances to get a better understanding of your situation and how I can help. Ultimately, the first session is a chance for you to meet me, for me to meet you, and for us to see if we would like to continue working together. It will also be an opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the process. First meeting is free of charge and there will be no obligation to continue therapy if you did not wish. If we agree to work together, we will begin therapy in subsequent sessions. We will agree on a time that suits us both and will be meeting at the same time each week.
