About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Lindsey and I am a Person Centred Experiential (PCE) Therapist. I am currently working remotely from home, which means I am able to work with clients throughout the UK, either online via a video call, or on the telephone.
I have experience of working with clients in a variety of settings, including community counselling services, employee assistance programmes and university settings. I have also worked in NHS funded crisis services, working with the creative arts to support those in a self-defined mental health crisis.
Additionally, I spent 10 years in the airline industry before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist and have a good understanding of the pressures faced by those working in the airline/aviation industry. I am also a qualified Kundalini Yoga Instructor and have taught in mental health and wellbeing settings since 2018.
Sometimes in life we may find ourselves struggling with challenging experiences or emotional distress, finding it hard cope with or resolve alone. Taking the step to come to counselling could be seen as a valuable investment in yourself as we work together on your difficulties, creating an opportunity for positive change. As a Person-Centred Experiential (PCE) Therapist, I can offer a warm, caring, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your experiences and emotional distress. This may facilitate greater self-awareness, empowerment, and uncover inner resources that you can later draw upon.
I am committed to being present with you in whatever you may be going through, listening carefully and supporting you every step of the way. I am not going to tell you what to do or decide the focus of the sessions - I will leave that up to you, as I trust you know what is right for you. I believe we all have our own unique story and personal challenges that can manifest in many ways, sometimes making it hard to move forward in life. You may have reached a crossroads in life and are feeling lost, lacking direction or purpose, or you may be grieving the loss of someone or something very precious to you. Maybe workplace stress, fear, anxiety or depression is getting in the way of finding peace and happiness in daily life. I can support you as you work through your emotions and experiences.
My first session
The first session is focused on gathering some relevant background information so I can understand more about you. We will also agree on our way of working together and you will have the opportunity to clarify your purpose for seeking out counselling/therapy at this time. This might involve talking about any needs or requirements you may have for the sessions. I will also outline my way of working and my approach to therapy. By the end of the first session, we will know if we will be able to work together. If what I offer is not right for you, I will endeavour to suggest other agencies/services that may be of help.
