About me and my therapy practice

https://www.mitchellprivatetherapy.co.uk/

I am a qualified, registered (mBACP, mBPS) and experienced psychotherapist, providing a warm, compassionate and proactive approach to help you navigate through life's challenges.

Different people have different needs, and clients need different therapy. Some people may want or need a direct approach, some may need guidance, some need space to process, some need more questions and others need more answers; everyone is different.

Recognising these individual needs is key to empathising with you, understanding you, and addressing how to move forward. That’s why my practice has an integrative therapeutic approach, whereby I tailor the therapy to the individual.

My practice was born from the desire to help people feel fulfilled, empowered and autonomous in their lives. Given the depth and scope of my training, I have the ability to apply different approaches dependent upon what's most helpful to you. In this way, my practice fits around who you are and what you need.

I practice from a private and peaceful environment in Walton-on-Thames. Free parking is available to all clients.

Practice description

My practice is both client-centred and solution-focused. With me, you can expect to be given the time you deserve to feel understood, whilst also making sense of your feelings and circumstances and bringing successful changes to your life.

I have seven years of professional psychological training and experience seeing people from a wide range of backgrounds, including overwhelmed students, stressed-out parents, burned-out professionals, and more. I have worked with both adults and young people to help them through anxiety, panic attacks, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, family struggles, perfectionism, low energy, ruminating thoughts, among many more.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist with a PGDip in Integrative Psychotherapy and an Advanced Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I have trained in several psychological models and techniques and I customise my approach according to the client's individual needs. With expertise in both short and long-term models, I am able to draw upon a range of evidence-based approaches in my work, including Cognitive-Behavioural, Person-centred therapy, Narrative, Psychodynamic, and Counselling for Depression (CfD) models.

My first session

What can I expect from a session?

I specialise in individual therapy, so our sessions will be between just you and I. Sessions will last for 50 minutes each. Most of my clients attend at the same time each week, but we will arrange your sessions to suit you. I offer both long-term and short-term therapy, dependent on what you need.

The first session acts as an opportunity for us to meet, discuss the structure of the sessions, talk about what has brought you to therapy, and outline what you want to achieve, along with any goals and benchmarks (if appropriate for you).

You can expect to find a collaborative partnership in me, someone who will explore and make sense of the problems you are struggling with.
