Practice description

How I work
I offer a bespoke service; our work would be very much tailored to your needs and what you want from therapy. Maybe you need a safe space in which to tell your story, to share what you are going through or have been through, a space where you can be supported in finding your own way back to emotional health.
Or perhaps you're feeling completely 'at sea' and need something a bit more structured. Perhaps, as might be the case with, say, PTSD or panic attacks, you need a specific psychological treatment.
On the other hand it might be that you are feeling quite isolated and simply need a trusted 'go to' person to be there for you and support you on a regular or occasional basis; this can be a good way of maintaining emotional and mental health.
I am trained and experienced at working in all of these ways.
My core trainings are in Person-centred counselling and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I have additional trainings in working with grief and loss, trauma focused therapy and Brief Therapy.
I also draw upon other theoretical models including TA (Transactional Analysis) Gestalt, Emotion Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic psychotherapy.
On request, I can offer counselling with a Christian focus.
I see adults (18 plus) and can offer both long and short term therapy.
If I sound like someone you would like to talk with further, I should be delighted to hear from you. We could either have a full 50 minute session in which we can decide if what I offer might be suitable for you. Or if you prefer, you can book a shorter 30 minute session so that you can just 'dip a toe in the water', ask me questions and give me a brief overview of your concerns.

My first session

How to reach me
Please call me on 07554963158. If you are connected to my voicemail please leave a number to contact you on. I will aim to return your call within 48 hours (where possible) during normal office hours, at a time convenient to you. If I get your voicemail, unless you ask me not to, I will normally leave a discrete message.
Our first session will be an opportunity to  share your concerns, ask me any questions you may have and for us to decide if what I can offer might be suitable for you.
My fees
  • £50 per 50 minute session
  • £28 for a 30 minute 'taster' session
  • Fees paid by BACS transfer in advance please to secure appointment
My cancellation policy
  • With at least 48 hours notice fees can be carried over in full to another appointment or refunded less a £10 admin fee
  • With less than 48 hours notice I reserve the right to retain the full fee

Please note
It is important to say here that there are some situations which I am unable to work with.

  • I am unable to work with anyone with a past or current diagnosis of psychosis or personality disorder or who is currently under the secondary mental health services
  • I am unable to work with anyone who is currently (or has recently been) at significant risk of harming themselves, or others, or who is at risk of harm from others
  • Excessive reliance on alcohol or recreational drugs can make  therapy ineffective
  • I am unable to work with eating disorders
  • I am unable to provide reports
  • I am unable to provide therapy where there is an active, pending, or likely court case relating to the issue being brought
  • I can only work with PTSD on a face to face basis

Unless these exceptions apply, I look forward to hearing from you
