About me and my therapy practice
We are currently living in unprecedented times and it seems that the only constant characteristic aspect of our current situation is uncertainty.
Many of us struggle to cope with this persistent uncertainty in our lives and this inevitably leads to abnormally raised levels of anxiety and fear. Fear for your health and those close to you, the grief arising from bereavement, the strain of social isolation and the financial consequences of unemployment and loss of financial security, all undermine your morale and sense of purpose. You are in acute need of support but don’t want to burden friends or family because they’re also struggling with similar levels of stress.
I am a BACP Registered (Accredited) counsellor with extensive and ongoing experience of working with individuals and groups within various mental health agencies in the Third Sector, alongside working with individual clients and couples in private practice. I also feel my previous years of working alongside a diverse range of people in industrial, commercial, educational and community organisations all inform and enrich my practice as a counsellor.
I am an integrative counsellor and as such, I adapt and incorporate various evidence based techniques used in a range of counselling and psychotherapy models and approaches to address different aspects of a client’s difficulties. Exploring your experiences, positive and negative, is an essential part of the process of developing the use of your own resources to achieve greater levels of self-acceptance and personal growth. If change in your circumstances is difficult or not possible, a change in how you accommodate or deal with those circumstances is always possible.
I do not work with Children or Young Persons.
My client sessions are held in a first floor room in the multi-practitioner practice of Archways Private Medical & Health Clinic In Romiley SK6 3AA.
Whilst there have been some relaxation in COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at the clinic will continue to be subject to safety measures required by the practice risk assessment constraints.
My first session
The first session is usually a shortened mutual introduction and to briefly discuss the client's reason(s) for seeking therapy. Currently, prior to the first session, I will contact the client(s) by phone to carry out a COVID-19 triage process.
