About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a counsellor in 2016 with AQA and became a registered member with BACP in 2017. I completed a 2-year Diploma in Clinical Sexology with COSRT in 2021. I have worked with a wide variety of clients from many different ages, genders, races and religions with a range of issues
I work with an integrative model combining elements from humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic methods. These are tailored to your needs as each person responds differently to the various approaches. This is done with you by initially planning the sessions and with continuous feedback during therapy to ensure you get the most out of your time with me. With sexual and relationship issues I work in a bio-psycho-social model combining biology/medical work with your GP if relevant, counselling theory and cultural/inter-personal work to cover all possibilities that could be causing the problem.
Through guidance and work, while being treated in a warm and non-judgmental manner, anyone can attain a better understanding of themselves and how to get to where they want to be.
The sessions can be short-term, long-term or even a single session, there is no minimum or maximum number of sessions as we will work to an ending that you are happy with.
I work in a private practice either face-to-face in a purpose-built room, online (Zoom, Skype or Signal) or it maybe possible for me to come to you. I mostly work in the daytime though some evenings and weekends are available.
I attend regular confidential supervision to ensure I am working in the best way for my clients, and frequently go on courses to increase my knowledge and abilities

My first session
The first session is normally paperwork (contract and a few forms) and a discussions of the practice. Then a short questionnaire about you, your history and the reasons you are attending therapy.
Finally you can ask any questions you might have and discuss if I am the right counsellor for you and how to proceed. Or if not, to see if there is anyone I can refer you to.
