About me and my therapy practice

To help people through adversity with empathy, respect, honesty and benevolence.

I have had, what some people may say, is more than one person's share of issues. I thought life was not worth living  and then

I saw a counsellor and she turned my thinking on its head!

I felt the need to start living my life. So profound a gift needed paying forward. So I devote my time learning how to help others.

I have counselled people, couples and groups from all different backgrounds, ages, and cultures for a very wide range of issues and mental health problems.

Based in person centred counselling, I allow you to bring what you need to the session, while I bring in a wide variety of methods to help you.

Roger's (father of person centred counselling) called it 'self actualisation'. With this theory underpinning my practice I also use other theories from the wealth of experience I have gained over the years of working for agencies. (2008 - 2021)

My methods work well with bereavement, anxiety, stress, depression, self esteem issues, trying to improve yourself and more.

My experience started in bereavement, at Oldham hospital. Where I learned that loss extends to many areas in life.

I went on to work with addiction which brought in abuse, sexuality issues, self image problems, life skill problems, anxiety, stress depression Etc.

I have up-to-date knowledge in young people counselling, and I am designated safeguarding lead trained and enhanced DBS checked.

I have trained in relationship counselling. Expanding my professional knowledge to help those who are stuck in current and past relationships.

My most recent studies are in; autism awareness, nutrition in social care, Mental health awareness in children, Bullying awareness in children, Suicide awareness

Everyone can find answers within themselves. I help you find those answers at your own pace.

LGBTQ+ friendly

Practice description

My practice is remote and the most common way I communicate is via a face to face video link which is an encrypted service.

I do provide non video calls via the same method. In both cases you will need a good internet connection and somewhere privet to take the call.

I work with adults for a variety of issues. I always use person centred principles but I am able to delve into my experience and provide methods that may help progression depending on the suitability of each client. Every client is treated as their own person so each experience is completely different

I work with young people 16+ I will contract with them and the person who is paying in these cases (If the person paying is not themselves) In these cases I will let the parent or guardian know how the session are going but will not discuss information unless necessary or with the young persons go ahead.

Couples/ relationships I can deliver therapy to people who are having difficulties in current or past relationships. I look at where your relationship is in terms of progression and health. Also help you to discover each others love languages.

I have delivered training and therapy to groups within my career and I am practically versed in group therapy for Drug and Alcohol abuse and recovery.

My first session

The First session I call my consultation session and it is 1/2hr long.

I do not charge for this session, it is to see if we can work together, and if counselling or therapy sessions I offer are right for you.

During the session if it looks like you agree to working with me I will go through basics from the contract to make sure you understand, and cover any risks.

I will also explain and send you an invoice at the end of the session for the first and last session of your therapy/ counselling. £70 You will then be one session ahead whilst we are working and I will not charge for our final session together.
