About me and my therapy practice
I am an 'evidence based person centred integrative counsellor' that’s me in professional speak. In plain english, I like to draw on my previous training as a research scientist to understand what makes human beings thrive. So I don’t stick to A technique but draw on a range of methods and tools (CBT, breathing, mindfulness, active imagination...) to discover with my client what works for them.
I work in person and by video, email and telephone.
First and foremost my job is to build a relationship of trust. All the research evidence shows that change comes from both a willingness to change, and strong sense that your counsellor gets you and is on your side. My job is to build this trust and from there work with you to find the strengths and talents you have within you to achieve the change you want.
I suffered for many years with anxiety and depression myself - I haven’t forgotten what that felt like or what it feels like to tell a stranger my own private thoughts and feelings. Remembering this I do my absolute best to give my clients the best possible experience.
I am happy to offer an introductory 30 minutes meeting for free so you can find out if I am the right person to help.

My first session
The first session is 90 minutes long to give us time to get a sense of your life story, your life now and what you wish to change. I will ask you to fill in a questionnaire 'About me' before the session.
