About me and my therapy practice
If you’re finding things difficult, you’re not alone. Stress, anxiety and depression remain the greatest health issues facing us worldwide - along with an increasing sense of loneliness and isolation. Many of us feel stuck or overwhelmed, distracted or disconnected, or that we lack purpose or meaning in life. Maybe you don't really know what the problem is. Maybe you just want to offload onto someone, and that's fine too!
Yet things don't have to be really bad in order to seek help. Even mild symptoms can seriously impair our enjoyment of life and wellbeing. My aim is to provide a warm, safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings or difficulties without being judged.
I can help you understand yourself better and see things more clearly. I can help you reconnect with your own personal strengths, work out what's important to you, and start making the changes you want to make. I can help you find ways to manage difficult thoughts and feelings, so they have less impact on your life and wellbeing.
We can often be quite unkind to ourselves - judging, blaming or criticising ourselves for things that have happened, or for the way we think and feel. I can help you find ways to ease your inner critic, so that you feel better about yourself and your worth as a human being. I believe we all have the capacity to grow as individuals, and to feel more content and at ease in ourselves and in our lives.
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I'm trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. It's a flexible approach that allows me to draw on a range of skills and techniques to help each individual client, and includes .
I'm also trained in mindfulness-based therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Mindfulness has become increasingly popular as part of an integrative approach to counselling.
My aim is to help you understand yourself better, make sense of the difficulties you face, and increase your sense of confidence and wellbeing. I can help you understand your difficult thoughts and feelings, and find a different way of relating to them so that you feel less stuck or overwhelmed by them. We can look at strategies for coping and managing difficult thoughts and feelings, so that you can focus on the things that are important to you. I can help you make the changes you’d like to make, whilst accepting the things you’re unable to change or control.
