About me and my therapy practice
I have been working as a counsellor for 7 years, and have experience of working with different age groups from the age of 5 upwards.
I have worked in private practice, for charities and also within educational settings and the NHS. I have worked with clients who are experiencing mild, moderate and more severe and complex mental health concerns, with concerns ranging from anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexuality and identity, suicidality, trauma, bereavement amongst others.
My particular experience is of working with the impact of trauma, in particular sexualised trauma and bereavement, or an accumulation of traumatic experience. I am qualified in EMDR and offer this as an adjunct therapy to counselling, incorporating techniques for managing overwhelming feelings in order for clients to feel safe in working together.
I work from a Person Centred Approach, informed by attachment theory, neuroscience and trauma theory. I offer a supportive, compassionate and reliable space where clients can safely explore their experiences.
I offer individual sessions on a 1:1 basis, and relationship work. I do this either face to face, or through Zoom, or over the telephone if this feels appropriate.
My first session
I offer a free initial assessment lasting up to 30 minutes where we can discuss the type of support that you are looking for and see if we feel comfortable working together.
Currently I only offer initial assessments over the phone.
