About me and my therapy practice

I have been trained in many approaches including  Integrative  and Psychodynamic therapy. Also Grief and relational therapy.

I sometimes incorporate CBT in my work. The above  allows me to work with clients in a way that is appropriate to your needs.

Integrative therapy is a combined,  and flexible approach that emphasises the value of all individuals, that  also includes the spiritual dimension of life.

I have also been a Registered nurse for the last 35 years. Nursing interventions are concerned with empowering people and helping them to achieve independence. my work as Psychotherapist also looks at healing, growth and development whilst working in partnership.

I have lived a good part of my life in other countries.

Losses ,mourning , grief are associated with the changes that occur from moving away from ones country. The question we ask ourselves. Who am i? The psychological effects , and cultural shock can be devastating. I have worked with many clients who have had the feelings above.

Bereavement , grief can also be the loss of someone you love,  but also  the loss of a job, relationship. Grief therapy offers you a place to discuss your feelings and helps you express your emotions in what ever way works best for you.

Redundancy can leave you with feelings of worthlessness, failure and shame. A huge sense of relief is usually experienced when the problem is shared. The therapist can provide empathic listening, and help build a framework within which change can gradually happen.

Practice description

The session is 50 minutes.

I see clients weekly, we discuss a day and time and this is then your time every week.

My role is to facilitate your work in ways that respect your values, personal abilities and capacity for choice. I work with the strength of individuals to heal themselves and to give shape and value to their lives.

Choosing to be in therapy is being open to exploring possibilities.

I attempt to bring together all aspects of personality such as feelings, perceptions and unresolved conflicts into a cohesive whole, which can then encourage the client to approach life more positively.

My first session

I see clients for an assessment   session.  Due to Covid 19,  at present that is via Zoom.

During this session we discuss an assessment of your needs, and together negotiate a working contract. What ever issues you bring to the sessions, we will explore together, looking at what they mean to you and what you would like to achieve.

At the end of the session we both discuss if we feel we can work together.
