One of the advantages of working on-line is that times are more flexible and there is no travelling to and from sessions.
I will try and accommodate the majority of clients. Your needs will be discussed before we formalise any contractual agreement.
About me and my therapy practice
Given the Government restrictions on movements and social distancing measures, I have undertaken an eighty-hour continuous personal development training programme (CPD) which enables me to move my work to on-line and telephone counselling. This is not a substitute for face to face therapeutic work nor should it be deemed second rate, for both offer many, though possibly different, advantages. All on-line and telephone counselling is carried out in accordance with UK law legislation as well as abiding by the ethical standards and expectations of the professionals counselling bodies, BACP and COSCA.
I am excited about this new platform especially when I am no longer limited to working with clients from my own geographical area. I am therefore open to new enquiries and will be happy to discuss any queries which you might have.
You will know that many individuals experience trauma in their life — sometimes it just comes out the blue, like bereavement, a relationship which turns sour or abusive, unemployment — the list is endless. At other times you've been aware of a problem that needs to be dealt with, a situation that troubles you — anxiety, low self esteem, panic attacks — dare I say it but this list is also endless.
You will find that I offer a non judgmental and confidential service. Through listening, reflections and silences we can begin a journey together which, hopefully, will lead you to become more self-aware, more capable and more trusting of yourself than you've ever been.
Sometimes taking that first step is the hardest — the phone call, the text or the email but it's an adventure — often challenging — but an adventure which we share together and I'm sure once you embark upon that new journey life will never be the same again.
There are many different types of therapies available for those seeking counselling and it is always worthwhile to explore what is on offer. I am trained in person centred counselling which means that, given the right conditions, I believe a person can reach their full potential and become their true self, (the person they have always wanted to be without succumbing to judgement or disapproval from others); this is called ‘self-actualisation’. This actualisation process is inherent and accessible to everyone.
To help you achieve self-actualisation I will offer you:
• unconditional positive regard (UPR) – accepting and valuing you
• congruence - being honest and transparent in how I experience you and your world
• empathic understanding – seeing your viewpoint as if I happened to be you.
When you’re attending counselling sessions, you’ll be encouraged to bring your own issues to the session – the counselling is led by you and not directed by the therapist. However, as your therapist I will offer you my honesty and respect while we explore the issues which you feel you would like to bring to counselling at the times which we have agreed.
My first session
I would encourage you to access my website — and there you will find more information about the type of on-line/telephone service which I offer. There will be five documents which you either need to sign or complete (these too are listed on my webpage). These documents will be sent to you by email which will allow you to read them at your leisure. Once you are happy to proceed and payment is made — £30 per hourly session we can fix a time which is convenient for both of us and that will normally be the time and day we meet as the sessions progress.
