About me and my therapy practice

**** In response to coronavirus I am offering online counselling (like Skype, but we will be using Zoom) and telephone counselling. If you're new to online counselling please don't worry - I will support you with this every step of the way. ****

I am an experienced and accredited Person-Centred counsellor,  and I have been practicing since 2006. I'm interested in creating a warm, safe, sensitive and therapeutic relationship, to offer you the space and freedom to explore what is happening for you. I aim to provide an opportunity for you to make sense of your world, to look at making changes that feel right for you, or to learn to live differently with the things you cannot change. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, panic, bereavement/loss, depression, ill health or a significant life event - past or present - I will welcome the opportunity to be alongside you as you look at new ways of living.

I invite you to book a free 30 minute appointment to see if counselling with me feels right for you.   I am based in central Sherwood and there is parking available, and bus stops and cafes are only minutes away. My fee is £45, though I will always consider affordability and your ability to pay - so if you wish to discuss your fee and explore options, your very welcome to do so. In addition, I offer concessionary rates for people who are on benefits and a very low income and you're very welcome to ask me about this. If I'm not in a position to help, I will signpost you to agencies that can offer counselling at lower rates. I also offer a discounted fee of  £40 for counselling students for each hour required for their qualification.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your counselling or if you simply want to say 'Hi' before making your decision.

I wish you all the best in your counselling journey.

Practice description

In response to coronavirus and the lockdown, I am now offering telephone and also online counselling. This means you can still access your therapy, and once I am able to resume face to face sessions you can choose how you would like your counselling to continue.

I use Zoom (similar to Skype) for online counselling. If you are new to communicating in this way it can seem a little daunting - however, I will support you with this each step of the way so that you feel comfortable and confident in your counselling sessions.

If you would like a chat to explore whether online or telephone counselling might suit you best - you're very welcome to contact me.

My first session

If you choose to book a free 30 minutes, you can use this time in any way that helps you to decide if counselling with me feels right for you - so you can ask questions, air any concerns you may have, check out your understanding of counselling, and explore your expectations. You're also welcome to share a little about yourself too.

If you decide to go ahead with your counselling, there is a little paperwork to do - nothing daunting, just some things that might be important for us both to consider in our therapeutic work together. You will receive the paperwork by email prior to this appointment, so you have some time to take a look and we will go through it together too - I will ensure that you have everything you need to start your counselling sessions.

By offering you this free initial appointment, and working in this way - it means that your first fee paying counselling session is exactly what it says. It is a counselling session, which isn't hijacked by paperwork.

I hope this is helpful, and I look forward to meeting you.
