About me and my therapy practice

Welcome. My aim is to help you feel as relaxed, comfortable and safe as possible during therapy with me. Counselling can be challenging at times, but more importantly it can be empowering, enlightening and life-changing.

My main approach is 'person-centred' which is a humanistic approach to counselling. Humanistic therapies focus on personal growth and development as well as enhancing your understanding of yourself. You will be at the heart of every session. With me, you will be encouraged is the process of talking about and working through any personal issues that are affecting you emotionally.

You will be able to talk freely, openly and without any judgement from me about whatever it is that you would like to talk about. I will be right there with you to hear everything you have to say and to hold space for you so that you can process your emotions.

As I am an experienced counsellor, so you can be safe in the knowledge that I will not be afraid to go to great depths with you, should you feel the need. You will be able to really 'go there', wherever that may be for you, if that is what you need to do and you feel OK to do so.

Practice description

I am very fortunate to be able to offer you a very homely, non-clinical, private, therapeutic space. My therapy room is on the first floor of a beautiful old Grade II listed building just a two minute walk from the centre of Darlington town.

As well as offering counselling in-person, I am a qualified online therapist. I'm happy to conduct sessions via Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp video. Altrernatively, if you prefer we can talk on the phone.

About me and my therapy practice

As your supervisor my aim is to build a solid, professional, collaborative relationship with you, offering you my objective thoughts and reflections to help you in your relationship with your clients.

In addition to talking any issues through, I may suggest we work creatively by using action work, creative tools/media or creative thinking. You are free to choose not to work in this way, however I would encourage you to be open to these avenues of exploration. These methods may, at times, be very enlightening, allowing you to feel confident in exploring your practice in a new way, and hopefully allowing you to see your clients from a different perspective, thus provoking therapeutic change in your clients.

Qualified counsellors and trainee counsellors in placement are welcome to contact me to discuss supervision with me in more detail, or to arrange to come along for an initial session.
