About me and my therapy practice
I offer General Counselling and have a special interest in Early Pregnancy Loss and Post-Natal Depression.
Of course, you are here for your own particular reasons. The difficulties we encounter are diverse but we can all sometimes suffer similar symptoms. For example anxiety, panic attacks, feeling sad, anger, shame, feeling stuck…
The benefits of counselling include feeling: calmer, happier, more confident and more relaxed. Being able to sleep better, have improved relationships, and heightened self-esteem.

Early Pregnancy Loss
I have a special interest in counselling for Early Pregnancy Loss, developed through my client work and ten years of NHS experience.
Your own circumstances are unique to you but what I see is that many people are often deeply distressed following the trauma of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Emotions that can be shocking and difficult to bear, including sadness, grief, anger, jealousy, loneliness, feeling misunderstood, having no-one to talk to.
If you are struggling, perhaps finding that people don’t understand how you feel, then I am here to support you with knowledge and compassion.
Supporting women suffering from post-natal problems is another area that is close to my heart.
Debilitating symptoms include anxiety, sadness, guilt, anger, loneliness, loss of control, feeling overwhelmed and exhaustion.
I have found that women can start to recover and feel more positive quite quickly, once they are able to share how they are really feeling. This is important for you and for your family. As a mother myself I am passionate about Early Pregnancy Loss and Post-Natal Counselling and am committed to making a positive difference.
I am based in a quiet countryside location between Taunton and Wellington, with easy access from the A38 and M5 (2 miles from junction 26).
This peaceful setting reflects the way I work, which is natural, honest, kind and caring.
The advantage of talking to a counsellor is that this is someone impartial, outside of your circle of family and friends. There is no fear of being judged or causing upset. You can speak from the heart, safe in the knowledge that everything you tell me is confidential and will be heard with kindness and understanding.
Talking honestly in this way is therapeutic, often experienced as a cathartic release of pent-up feelings. Spreading some light on the darker areas allows for deeper understanding, new insight and shifting perspectives leading to positive change.
Thankfully, the importance of our mental well-being is now recognised and much more accepted by society than previously. Organising to have some counselling sessions can be viewed as a strong positive step towards improving your situation. In fact a BACP 2014 Public Attitudes Survey states that one in four people in the UK have had counselling.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My practice is governed by the BACP Ethical Framework, assuring you that I work in a way which is safe, professional and accountable.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning that I work flexibly using knowledge from a combination of psychological theories. We look at what’s happening in your life at the moment, how past circumstances might influence you and ways to improve your situation.
Alongside counselling, I am interested in Poetry Therapy, Writing for Wellbeing, and the benefits of nature, exercise and mindfulness.
My first session
Our first meeting is a chance to meet up for about half an hour and discuss how we might work together. I can talk a bit more about the process, for example, the number of sessions, confidentiality, fees and guidelines. Whilst you can explain a little about the concerns that you have and how you hope that counselling may be able to help.
This is a free, introductory session for you to get a feel of things and there is no obligation to commit. You will be able to reflect and decide if this seems right for you.
