Therapist - Wellington

Wellington TA21
Sessions from £45.00

  • Flexible hours available

I have appointments available on weekday early mornings, afternoon/evenings and Saturday mornings.

My practice is in the countryside near Wellington, Somerset.  Just of the A38 and five minutes from M5, Junction 26.

There is a light and airy counselling room, or we can sit outside and enjoy the garden.  I also offer walk and talk therapy for anyone who likes the idea of walking together through the fields and lanes as we talk.

I know that finding a counsellor who you think you'll get on well with can be a bit daunting, so I'm very happy for you to contact me for a quick informal chat and to ask any questions.

Read on for a summary of my practice or find more information by clicking the website link on this page.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer support to men and women whilst they make the inner transition needed to cope with the challenges that life inevitably brings.

I know that life can be really tough sometimes.  Each of us faces our own unique circumstances but we can all suffer similar painful symptoms as a result.

You might be feeling stuck, anxious, stressed, worried, angry, sad ashamed, have panic attacks, low mood...

When you're swirling around in this fog it can be hard to find the way forward - working with a counsellor helps you to regulate your moods and focus on your recovery.

Talking therapy allows you to feel calmer, happier, more confident, more relaxed and more optimistic.  Other benefits include being able to sleep better, having improved relationships, and heightened self-esteem...

Having dedicated time and space to concentrate on your own processes allows you to become much more self-aware.  Then you can start to change how you feel about things.

Pre and post-natal issues

I have a special interest in counselling for pre and post-natal problems, which has developed through my personal and professional life, including ten years of NHS experience.

I understand that you may be deeply distressed by trauma concerning pregnancy.  This includes, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, fetal anomaly, termination of pregnancy for medical or social reasons, IVF, difficult birth, post-natal issues...

Emotions arise that can be shocking and difficult to bear, including sadness, grief, anger, jealousy, loneliness, feeling misunderstood, having no one to talk to.  It can feel like there's no way out.

If you are struggling, perhaps finding that people don’t understand the depth of your feelings, then I am here to support you with knowledge and compassion.

Practice description

I am based in a quiet countryside location between Taunton and Wellington, with easy access from the A38 and M5 (2 miles from junction 26).

This peaceful setting reflects the way I work, which is natural, honest, kind and caring.

The advantage of talking to a counsellor is that this is someone impartial, outside of your circle of family and friends. There is no fear of being judged or causing upset. You can speak from the heart, safe in the knowledge that everything you tell me is confidential and will be heard with kindness and understanding.

I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My practice is governed by the BACP Ethical Framework, assuring you that I work in a way which is safe, professional and accountable.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning that I work flexibly using knowledge from a combination of psychological theories. We look at what’s happening in your life at the moment, how past circumstances might influence you and ways to improve your situation.

My counselling practice is informed by my interest in poetry therapy, writing for wellbeing, creative arts and the benefits of nature, exercise and mindfulness.

I offer indoor and outdoor counselling, walk and talk therapy and also work online.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or click on the link to my website for more information.

All enquiries welcome.

My first session

I offer a free initial discussion for half an hour, by phone or Zoom, to get a feel for how we might work together.

There's no obligation to commit, rather a chance to see if I might be the right person for you.  Then you can reflect and decide if you'd like to book an appointment.

Contact me for a quick chat first if you like, or send a message.
