Hi, I'm Jill, I provide online and/or face-to-face appointments. I'm based in the countryside, near Wellington in Somerset.
Afternoon, early evening (and limited morning) sessions are available.
Counselling can be just a few sessions or longer-term, whatever suits you.
I understand that finding a counsellor who is a good fit for you can be a bit daunting, so take your time to look around. You can find more information about my practice by clicking the website link on this page.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling for a range of issues and have a special interest in Early Pregnancy Loss and Post-Natal Depression.
I know that life can be really tough sometimes. Each of us faces difficulties unique to us but we can all suffer similar symptoms as a result. Whether it's anxiety, low mood, anger, feeling stuck…
When you're feeling down it can be hard to find the way forward -talking to a counsellor helps you focus on recovery.
Clients begin to feel calmer, happier, more confident and more relaxed. They are able to sleep better, have improved relationships, and heightened self-esteem.
Do message me, I'm happy to answer any questions. Or, go to my website - access via the link on this page.
Early Pregnancy Loss
I have a special interest in counselling for Early Pregnancy Loss, which has developed through my personal and professional life, including ten years of NHS experience.
I understand that you may be deeply distressed following the trauma of losing a baby in early pregnancy. Emotions arise that can be shocking and difficult to bear, including sadness, grief, anger, jealousy, loneliness, feeling misunderstood, having no one to talk to.
If you are struggling, perhaps finding that people don’t understand the depth of your feelings, then I am here to support you with knowledge and compassion.
I feel it's important to understand that PND can affect men as well as women and so I am here to support both.
Debilitating symptoms including anxiety, sadness, guilt, anger, loneliness, loss of control, can overwhelm and exhaust you. It can be really hard to take that first step to get help but I have found that people can start to feel more positive quite quickly, once they are able to share how they are really feeling.
I am based in a quiet countryside location between Taunton and Wellington, with easy access from the A38 and M5 (2 miles from junction 26).
This peaceful setting reflects the way I work, which is natural, honest, kind and caring.
The advantage of talking to a counsellor is that this is someone impartial, outside of your circle of family and friends. There is no fear of being judged or causing upset. You can speak from the heart, safe in the knowledge that everything you tell me is confidential and will be heard with kindness and understanding.
Thankfully, the importance of our mental well-being is now recognised and much more accepted by society than previously. Organising to have some counselling sessions can be viewed as a strong positive step towards improving your situation. In fact a BACP 2014 Public Attitudes Survey states that one in four people in the UK have had counselling.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My practice is governed by the BACP Ethical Framework, assuring you that I work in a way which is safe, professional and accountable.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning that I work flexibly using knowledge from a combination of psychological theories. We look at what’s happening in your life at the moment, how past circumstances might influence you and ways to improve your situation.
Alongside counselling, I am interested in Poetry Therapy, Writing for Wellbeing, and the benefits of nature, exercise and mindfulness.
Feel free to message me with any questions or click on the link to my website for more information.
