About me and my therapy practice

Feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed or distressed? It's at times like this that talking to a professional can help. I offer safe, non-judgemental therapy in person or via telephone or online video to help you overcome problems and improve your quality of life.

I have extensive experience in supporting clients to move on from trauma, disabling anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties. Together we will build a strong, safe, non-judgemental relationship where we can work through your problems together and find your way forward.

I am genuinely interested, engaged and supportive throughout our journey together. I am warm, compassionate, perceptive and honest. My clients tell me I am easy to talk to and have a good sense of humour which they find helpful, especially when things are tough.

My approach draws from elements of person-centred, CBT, interpersonal therapy and transactional analysis, and puts you and your experiencing at the heart of the process.  Our sessions will help you to identify old unhelpful patterns and develop individual tools and techniques to create new positive ones.  Specific techniques enable us to tackle specific problems.  We often exist 'in our heads' and ignore important messages from our feelings and body.  Connecting and working through your thoughts, feelings and behaviour with me will help you move forward.

I know that you may feel worried about talking openly about difficult experiences and feelings so we will find the right process together. Whilst sensitive to your pace, sessions are purposeful and mindful of what you want to achieve. Choosing a counsellor to work with is not easy so I offer an initial free consultation before you commit to anything.

My first session

I offer a 30 minute free initial telephone, face to face or Zoom consultation.  This enables us to get to know each other a little more, talk about the therapy process, answer any questions you might have and help you to experience talking with me.  This will help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.

If getting to an appointment is difficult for you, I offer telephone or online video sessions via Zoom. It may be useful if you feel more comfortable talking about your issues from the comfort of your own home, or your circumstances mean it is easier for you to use this facility. I also have a mobile therapy room and can arrange to come to you and the price for this is negotiable depending on your location and distance.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with warmth and purpose with both trainee and qualified therapists to encourage honest reflection on your work and promote exploration and growth.

Practice description

Hi, I’m Tracy.

I am a practising Integrative Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I also have a Psychology degree and lots of previous experience of supporting and nurturing the growth of individuals and groups.

I enjoy and value my own supervision and work with warmth and purpose to recreate a similar experience with my supervisees. I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore the therapeutic relationships you have with your clients and support you to grow in ways that feel authentic to you and your practice. My training and ongoing development enables me to support you in your preferred modality and also consider other approaches and creative ways of working if that feels useful.

Although I work solely in private practice now, I receive referrals from employers and care agencies and often work with people experiencing challenging lives. Depending on your practice, I understand that you may well be working with clients who have extremely difficult and distressing experiences and I can collaborate and share my experience and expertise with you when this would be helpful.

Working in helping professions is challenging and as well as client safety, your safety and wellbeing is at the heart of our supervisory relationship.

I offer in person supervision from my practice in a welcoming, relaxed setting in Horbury, 5 minutes from the M1 Junction 40 and easily accessed from Wakefield, Huddersfield, Leeds, Barnsley and surrounding areas. There is parking for you right outside. If you don’t live near enough to see me or prefer the convenience of remote supervision sometimes or always, then I’m happy to work via Zoom or telephone.

My fees for supervision are £50 for 1 hour, £60 for 1.5 hours. Reduced fees are available to trainee counsellors. If you would like to chat about the possibility of us working together, contact me on tracy@yorkshiretherapypractice.co.uk or 07838 318410.
