About me and my therapy practice

My name is Kam, and I am a qualified integrative and relational counsellor. Seeking therapy is the first step to reaching acceptance with situations beyond your control, helping you reclaim your inner strength to find a resolution. We live in a fast-paced world that can negatively impact our relationships, health, and self-worth. Our inner sanctuary is ransacked with the demands of others and societal expectations, and we have less and less time to focus on our own needs. I am here to offer you a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to finally be able to SEE and tend to your needs within a professional and ethical relationship.

It takes courage to admit that you need help with a personal problem. You may be consumed with thoughts that paralyse your ability to engage in everyday life. You may awake every morning with feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, or guilt, or even frustration with being unable to change the cycle of overthinking. Perhaps you have retreated, feel isolated or stuck because you are unable to share your problems with others, nor the energy to prioritise quiet time for self-reflection. Whatever your story, thoughts or feelings, all that matters is that you are here, seeking a safe person to share your problem with, and with whom you can explore your possibilities to evolve from this chapter of your life. Your courage and strength have brought you here today, and together we can help you SEE the transformation you need.

Practice description

I emphasise a client-centred approach that helps individuals reclaim their power when making decisions that lead to positive action. My focus will be forming a therapeutic relationship with you that is authentic, ethical, safe, non-judgmental, and based on trust. Together we will use therapy as a safe space for positive self-exploration of your needs.

I have fourteen years’ experience working with clients presenting with low moods, depression, and anxiety. I have confidently worked with adults, adolescents, and the elderly from diverse backgrounds. I have supported those in the criminal justice system, and individuals facing crises like homelessness and domestic violence. In addition to English, I have successfully delivered therapy in Punjabi, and worked with various South Asian clients who have required increased sensitivity and an understanding of cultural expectations.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and have successfully met their competency and ethical standards. I continue to grow in understanding client needs through ongoing professional development courses. I have actively engaged in studies for:

- motivational interviewing

- suicidal awareness

- cognitive behaviour therapy

- brief solution-focused therapy

- trauma-informed work

- safeguarding of adults and children

- restorative justice

- domestic violence

- pro-social modelling for repeat offending behaviours

- addiction

I also bring my knowledge of life coaching, neuro-linguistic programming, Emotional Focus Tapping, mindfulness, and energy work to develop your sense of self-worth and confidence.
