About me and my therapy practice
Counselling can help with many difficult life issues. Perhaps you are coping with a traumatic experience or event, or feeling overwhelmed by your emotions? Are you dealing with depression and anxiety? Maybe the way others are treating you is becoming harmful to you – this may be emotionally, physically, or sexually. Feeling isolated and have no one to talk to? Or you may have supportive friends and family but find it difficult to speak to them about what is going on for you. Perhaps you are unsure about what you need or want – together we can work it out.
I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a wealth of experience. I have worked with a wide range of presenting issues and with many people from diverse backgrounds and age groups - including 16- to 18-year-olds.
I offer short-term, long-term, and open-ended sessions, seeing each person as unique. We can explore your needs together, you decide how many sessions, reviewing as we go along, and you end counselling when the time feels right.
It can take courage to begin counselling and express thoughts and feelings you may never have expressed or explored in depth before.
I aim to offer an active listening space with warmth, compassion, and empathy, in a non-judgmental way. In a safe, confidential place, you will be able to talk freely without feeling judged or criticised. You will feel truly heard, understood, valued, and accepted as you are.
Sometimes we need someone to walk by our side whilst we figure it out – someone to sit in our darkness with us.
I will walk alongside you at a pace that suits you. I will travel with you to your dark places and stay there with you.
Working together, I will facilitate self-exploration, exploring with you your own issues, feelings, behaviour, and worldview. I will help you navigate your way through so you can become more self-aware, bringing a greater understanding of what is going on for you, helping you get to where you want to be.
Some of the areas of counselling I have worked with include shame, abuse (emotional, physical, sexual), anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, traumatic experiences and events, loss, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts.
I passionately believe people can be empowered to find their own answers – sometimes these answers can be difficult to find.
