About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Katie. I am a registered member of the BACP, offering one-to-one psychotherapy and counselling services to adults aged 18 years and over. I offer face-to-face sessions at my private practice in Bramhall and online sessions via Skype.

I understand that making the decision to begin therapy can feel daunting. Once you start your search for a therapist, it can feel challenging to find the right person for you. I hope this information helps you to learn a little bit about me and what you can expect from therapy.

When I faced difficulties in my own life, I decided to get help from a therapist. The experience helped me to relax; life felt a little lighter and the future felt exciting. For me, therapy is about getting in touch with who you are and making decisions that feel right for you. By developing our self-awareness and gaining insight into our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, we can develop the freedom to change what isn't working for us.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to change. The main modality I work in is Transactional Analysis, which explores an individual’s personality and how it has been shaped by experiences, decisions and beliefs, particularly those experiences from childhood. When we are no longer caught up in events from the past or worried about the future, we have the freedom to live a fulfilling and positive life, which reflects who we really want to be.

My aim is to provide a nurturing, open and honest space, where you can talk about your difficulties without judgment. I will treat you with warmth, compassion and respect, welcoming you to speak freely without fear that your story will be repeated elsewhere. Together, we will find a way to make the changes you desire.

Practice description

My practice is based in a garden office, which is separate from my home with private access. It is located half a mile from Bramhall village centre, close to the Manchester Eastern Link Airport Road (SK7). It is also within easy reach of Woodford, Hazel Grove, Cheadle Hulme and Handforth. It is easily reached by bus services, train and car. Free street parking is available nearby.

Video appointments are offered via the online platform Skype.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute consultation over the phone or online, via Skype or Zoom. This informal chat gives us the opportunity to meet one another and for you to tell me about what has brought you to therapy. There is no obligation to continue beyond this consultation.

If you like the sound of my approach, please get in touch. I am not always able to answer the phone, so please leave me a message. I aim to get back to all enquiries within 48 hours. Feel free to text, WhatsApp or email me - whatever works best for you.
