About me and my therapy practice
My name is Lynn and I am a qualified counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist with over 6 years’ experience.
Most of us experience ups and downs throughout our lives, but every now and then we can feel a little bit “stuck”, this could be for a whole range of reasons; pressures at work, school or college, family problems, depression, anxiety, illness, addiction, self-harm or bereavement or maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it but you know that you want to feel better than you do right now. It doesn’t have to be a big problem to come to counselling. What I would like to offer is a safe, confidential environment to explore what is going on for you. I like to think of us as a team working together, exploring whatever is preventing you from living your life to the full. The sessions will be tailored to suit your needs, working at your pace, at a level comfortable to you.
I particularly enjoy working with children and young people. Young people engage in counselling in all manner of ways; we don’t just “sit and talk”, we can work creatively, do board games, play and somehow it works, things start to get better. I regularly find myself seeing young people in school as this offers an environment in which they are familiar. However, it could be that school is the problem in which case we can meet in counselling rooms.
I equally enjoy working with adults and couples. It may be that you don’t want to off load or burden your family or friends with your problem, or maybe the issue is a little closer to home, in which case exploring this with me in a neutral unbiased setting can prove to be hugely beneficial. I may suggest a different way of dealing with a situation or introduce tools and techniques to help you deal with the situation. How often do you have 50 minutes to sit and talk and explore what is going on for you and really be listened to?
