About me and my therapy practice
There are many different reasons that bring people to counselling or therapy. Essentially, people come to therapy with questions and together we look for the answers through a relationship that is confidential and non-judgemental.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I guide you towards a deeper understanding of yourself, what you are struggling with and help you find a way to change and live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. Based in the psychoanalytic tradition, this kind of psychotherapy looks at how the problem you are facing today is linked to your past experiences; it explores what unconscious processes lay behind your present challenges and helps you understand and overcome it.
We would generally meet once or twice a week and whilst I generally work long term with people, I also offer short term therapy in certain cases.
I have lived in nine different countries across three continents, obtained dual American and British training and worked in both the private and public sectors, including the NHS. This experience has enriched me with exposure to a wide range of cultures and challenges.
My experience also reflects a diverse client base. I have worked with people from the financial services, public sector, and creative professions. I have helped clients struggling with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, self-esteem, relationship and sexual difficulties, depression, bereavement, trauma, self-harm and eating disorders.
I also offer financial therapy to those who face difficulties related to the management of their finances. See separate tab on financial therapy.
My practice is based in South Bank, within easy reach of Vauxhaull, Waterloo, Westminster and Pimlico. At the moment I am holding all sessions via Zoom/phone.
I am an Accredited member of BACP and a recognised specialist with AXA PPP healthcare, Aviva, Healix Health Services and VitalityHealth.
My first session
Making the decision to start therapy may feel difficult for some people. You may not be sure this is right for you and you may have questions about what therapy is like. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable sharing your difficulties with is important. This is why we first meet for one or two sessions for the Initial Consultation.
The Initial Consultation is an opportunity for you to meet me and get a sense of what therapy is like. We will speak about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to achieve and we will discuss whether weekly psychotherapy sessions can be helpful to you, or whether a different kind of help would be more beneficial. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions or share any concerns you have about starting therapy but it will also give you an idea of what psychodynamic psychotherapy is like.
During the Initial Consultation I will also talk about the practicalities of therapy (confidentiality, payment, missed sessions etc.).
My fee for an initial consultation is £85.
Feel free to contact me via phone or email to schedule an Initial Consultation or to have a brief phone conversation if you have questions prior to booking.
If we decide to start therapy, we would then agree a set day and time and meet every week. Meeting weekly will help keep the momentum of the therapy and make you feel supported as we unravel what is troubling you. In some cases, people prefer meeting twice a week, which is also possible. Our sessions will last 50 minutes.
At the Initial Consultation we would agree a fee for ongoing sessions. My fees range from £70-90.
