About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Sarah, and I am an integrative therapist.

I have 15 years of post-graduate experience in providing counselling and therapy to people with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress, anger and bereavement. I embrace diversity within my practice, and am experienced in working with neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ clients.

My approach is integrative, which means that I combine different therapeutic approaches to provide an experience unique to each client because it is tailored to your individual needs and preferences.

I don’t pretend to be an expert in you and your experiences: instead I work with you and alongside you, applying appropriate techniques to help you explore your situation, develop skills and strategies to support you in moving forward and, ultimately, to achieve your goals.

I work from a person-centred perspective, integrating a combination of cognitive behavioural techniques, attachment theory, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and creative approaches.

Your therapy is YOUR therapy. Every step will be discussed with you, and while I may challenge you, you will never be expected to do anything you are not comfortable with or don’t feel ready for. There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions: I aim to work as flexibly as possible.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor. This means that I work with a number of different approaches, employing them as is most appropriate depending on what stage you are at in your therapy. I aim to be as accessible as possible, in that I take my lead from what my clients bring to me: I do not follow a set “programme”, instead preferring to work collaboratively with my clients, as I believe this results in the best outcomes.

I work from a garden office at my home in Stapenhill, Burton-upon-Trent, which is accessible via one small step into the office. I offer face-to-face sessions as well as video or telephone therapy.

I am a registered member of BACP, and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I am in ongoing supervision and undertake further training regularly. I also work as a supervisor for other therapists, and offer tutoring to trainees.

My first session

Your first session will be an assessment session which takes around 45 minutes and costs £25. This session gives us a chance to get the paperwork sorted, and time for you to tell me what brings you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and any other factors which may be concerning you. There is plenty of opportunity to ask lots of questions if you wish to do so!

By the end of this session I will be able to give you an overview of how I might suggest we start to work together, and we can discuss pros and cons of different options. This session is completely no obligation, so there is absolutely no pressure to continue if, for whatever reason, you feel it isn’t right for you.

If you do choose to continue, full sessions cost £50 going forward. You are very welcome to contact me with any questions before committing to further sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Sarah, and I am an integrative therapist with 15 years of post-graduate experience in providing counselling and therapy, and  over twelve years experience in supervision. I embrace diversity within my practice, and am experienced in working with neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ clients and supervisees.

I have experience in working with supervisees from a wide range of modalities. Everyone's supervision is different, and exactly what you want to gain from our sessions will be agreed the first session (or soon after if you're not sure at this stage). I see my role as a supervisor to be one that challenges, supports, nurtures, develops, and works alongside my supervisees to help them become the best practitioners they can be.

I can work flexibly, usually offering four-weekly sessions to qualified therapists, and fortnightly to those in training, but if your needs are different please contact me to arrange an alternative.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor and supervisor. I work with supervisees from a number of different modalities and integrated combinations.

I work from a garden office at my home in Stapenhill, Burton-upon-Trent, which is accessible via a small step into the office. I offer face-to-face sessions as well as video or telephone therapy.

Supervision sessions cost £50 for an hour, or £70 for an hour and a half.

I am a registered member of BACP, and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I am in ongoing supervision and undertake further training regularly. I always have a varied caseload of clients, and I also offer tutoring to trainees.

My first session

Our first session will include contracting, and getting to know each other in terms of what I can offer and what your needs are. It helps me to know what training provider you are with, if you are in training, and what kind of placement you have, or what kind of work you undertake if you are already qualified.

Towards the end of this session we will hopefully have a good idea of whether working together will be beneficial for you. This session is completely no obligation, so there is no pressure to continue if you feel I am not a good fit for you and your practice.
