About me and my therapy practice

The first step in counselling is finding a counsellor you trust and feel comfortable with. I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering a confidential, non-judgmental space where we will work collaboratively to explore the difficulties and experiences that have brought you here today. Many people feel a relief when they are truly heard and understood, and this creates new insights and opens up a new path to move forward. Through counselling, we can create positive changes by exploring your current and past experiences, and identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking, allowing you to change and grow.

You may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, or a lack of purpose. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or lost in life. So much has changed in recent years; through the pandemic, the cost of living crisis, and so much happening in the world, so you might be looking for somewhere to talk about your worries and how you have been affected. Perhaps you know exactly what it is you want from counselling, or maybe you just feel you need to talk because something doesn’t feel quite right and you are struggling to cope. Either way, counselling is a journey of discovery, and I want to walk alongside you. Together, we can find hope and purpose for you again, we can change your negative core beliefs and empower you to set yourself a new horizon. I am experienced working with adults and young people with a variety of different issues, tailoring my therapeutic style for each person's needs.

I am a registered member of the BACP, ensuring I work within their ethical guidelines and following their professional standards for good practice. Alongside this, I am committed to ongoing professional development and further training to ensure my knowledge and experience is up to date, allowing me to offer the best possible therapy.

Practice description

I am experienced working with adults and young people from various backgrounds and cultures. I focus on your unique situation and experiences as I concern myself with how things are from your own point of view, valuing the importance of your thoughts and feelings. I believe you are the expert on your own life, so sometimes you just need the space to think and talk things through, or to be challenged to find the answers you are searching for from within yourself.

I have worked with people of different ages who were navigating transitional periods in their lives, including school, university, a new job, having children, and retirement. I also have experience working with people struggling with grief, whether it is the loss of a close family member, a friend, or a pet- each person's experience with grief is personal and different, so I help you to process your own loss and the effects it has on your life. I work with people coming to terms with their own chronic disease diagnosis, or the ongoing difficulties with living with a disease or illness, as well as people processing the diagnosis of a close family member or friend. I also have experience supporting and empowering carers of family members. I work with a lot of teenagers and young people who are trying to make sense of their feelings and emotions, as they learn to express themselves in a more healthy, positive way. I am also a counsellor for a top drama school in London, so I am experienced in working with students who are overwhelmed, stressed, or trying to make sense of their future.

I have completed a diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, enabling me to use different theories within my work, tailoring my approach with each individual. I also use elements of my Philosophy Bachelors Degree to explore elements of existential and ethical dilemmas with clients. Further, I have a qualification in Counselling Children and Young People, enabling me to work safely and effectively with younger clients.

My first session

If this feels right for you, the next step is to contact me, and we can arrange a free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss what is bringing you to counselling, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, and get to know each other better without obligation.

We can then arrange our first session where we will meet using Facetime, Skype or Zoom. I offer short term or open ended counselling, so we may work together for a few weeks, months, or years, depending on your preferences and needs. Most people find weekly sessions more useful, but later you may decide upon more or less regular sessions if you prefer.

In our first session, we will talk more about what is going on for you at the moment, and what it is you would like to achieve from counselling.

What I can help with
