About me and my therapy practice
My name is Janette Carr and I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist registered with BACP. I am also a qualified adult and mental health nurse. I have worked extensively in mental health and substance misuse services in clinical and non clinical settings. I have undertaken additional training in Bereavement, Self harm ,Cognitive behavioural therapy and Solution focussed interventions.
I am optimistic, non judgmental, non directive and can offer you a confidential service and a safe space to share your concerns. My first priority is to create a supportive and therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty and empathy.
I adapt my knowledge of different counselling approaches to each individual person , so that each session is tailor made for you and your individual needs.
We will work as a team on a relaxed and collaborative basis ,and at your pace, always reviewing and adapting as part of the therapeutic process.
As a person centred therapist, I provide an environment that is safe, confidential and empathic. I believe that by offering this safe and non judgmental space, it will help you to share the concerns and issues you are facing.
My aim is that we will work together to understand and address those issues and to focus on positive outcomes.
The therapy can be short term or open ended, adaptable to your individual needs.
I have had the privilege of working with many people of all ages who have had the courage to confide in me and to start the therapeutic process . This has enabled people to become empowered and to achieve their optimum levels of confidence and independence.
My first session
Finding the right therapist for you can be anxiety provoking to begin with. I offer an introductory session which is 45 minutes and is free of charge.
We will discuss the reasons which have brought you to therapy and how you are feeling. We will explore your expectations of therapy, and I will explain the basic principles of confidentiality , your rights as a client , and how I work as a therapist.
We will jointly agree the best form of communication should you wish to continue and make a further appointment.
