About me and my therapy practice
Does life feel overwhelming? Are you being heard? Feeling low? Are you experiencing unpleasant feelings that you are struggling to handle? We can all at times struggle. Whether that be with events from the past or ongoing situations. We are only human, and emotions do have the ability to take their toll.
At times it can be easier to talk to a stranger than to someone you know.
So let me introduce myself my name is Lisa and I qualified as a therapist in 2018. I have experience of working with adults with varying problems such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, bereavement, sexuality and physical or emotional abuse.
I have trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches the main one being Person-Centred meaning that I believe you, the client, holds the key to moving forward You are the expert in your own life and know what you require for your own self-healing process. I have also trained the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused, meaning I can alter the way we work together depending on what you need from each session.
Having previously worked with some of the most vulnerable members of society for a period of sixteen years I built transferable skills and qualities including communication and listening. I take great pleasure in watching football and In my spare time, I sit on a panel at my local football club, the aim being to create access and inclusion for all. Through this I have learnt to look at things more objectively and empathetically, I realise that no one person has the same set of circumstances and there is a reason as to why they are and where they find themselves.
I continue to use these skills within the therapy room, my role is to understand your situation from your perspective making sure you feel accepted by me and through discussion are in a better position to better understand your own feelings.
For the time being all sessions will during the day are being offered online. There may be availability for face to face work during some evenings. This can be discussed.
My first session
I offer a free initial 20-minute confidential consultation. This provides you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about starting therapy and to make sure that I am the right fit for you.
