About me and my therapy practice

Have You... reached that point in your life when you feel you might benefit from someone listening to what’s going on for you right now? Someone that’s impartial, someone with no agenda and who is there for you. If so, therapy or life coaching may be the answer. From time to time… We all reach a point in our lives when we feel we can’t cope, the road ahead doesn’t look so clear, our problems seem overwhelming, we've lost our MOJO and no one seems to understand and people just don’t have the time to listen...

In my private practice I work with Individuals, Couples, Adults and young people (15 years upwards). I offer weekday appointments, with some evenings subject to availability. I aim to offer an Initial Assessment appointment within 2 working days. What I offer… One to one Therapy (Short/Long Term) EMDR/Trauma Therapy, Couples, Life Coaching & Supervision

I’m Jules I offer a confidential, professional, friendly, compassionate and supportive therapy service for individuals and couples. Why is finding the right therapist for you very important…? Research shows that positive change happens when there is a good ‘match’ between the therapist and client. My approach is friendly, warm and non-judgmental.

Practice description

I currently complete all my work online - via Zoom. When working Face to Face, I work from a small private clinic located in the heart of East Farleigh.  It is completely confidential and offers adequate parking.

My first session

All first sessions or 'therapy assessments' as I like to call them, will last up to 90 minutes (the cost is the same as a regular session) the objective of this session is for me to find out a little more information about you, ensuring I can help you, or signpost you,  should I feel you need more specialist support.  It is also for both you and I, to see how the 'fit' is between us, do you feel comfortable working with me and vice versa.  This is very important as there needs to be a level of trust and you need to feel comfortable and safe to share whatever you want to bring, happy in the knowledge that I can fully support you.

About me and my therapy practice

I was originally a qualified trainer in a former profession, this has allowed me to move into Training and Facilitating therapy and Supervision Groups within this industry.

My most recent experience of running groups - has been running a Supervision Support Group throughout lockdown. There is on average 6 attendees per session, and this runs twice a month. In one session, we will work through client issues on Zoom, (whilst complying with the BACPs code of ethics on confidentiality), and then during the second session of the month, we will cover topics requested by the attendees around such topics as boundaries and how to hold them when working online. How to identify risk and act appropriately etc.

In Autumn 2019, I was the lead for the Action For Happiness (AFH) programme, which was run for 8 weeks in the Autumn 2019

Before this I wrote and delivered several training programmes for Kent Police. Namely 'Feel Well Live Well' which was a programme specifically targeted at keeping officers and civilians in the workplace that were suffering from burnout and stress. The programme was made up of small groups of individuals who signed up for the programme which ran over 6 weeks. The programme  ran the whole year through, and looked at issues such as emotional wellbeing, communication, relationships and coping strategies.  'Feel Well Live Well'  was well received which prompted Kent Police to apply for, and secure a Government Innovation fund.

In addition to this I wrote and delivered their bereavement training for the (FLO's) Family Liaison Officers.

I often run short workshops 1/2 day/full day on various topics which are always favourable reviewed.

Training and Group work is a passion of mine and I look forward to doing more in the future.

I work Monday to Thursday offering some evening appointments.  I try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs in regard to appointments.

About me and my therapy practice

I work as both a Humanistic/Integrative BACP (Accred.) Therapist and Supervisor.  I find working at the 'coal face' dealing with clients in therapy, what they bring and keeping up to date with my CPD on new therapies and ideas greatly helps and supports my Supervision work.

Currently, I  have between 8-10 supervisees that I see monthly or bi-monthly.  They range from trainees usually in their last year of college up to experienced Psychotherapist.  I work with both individuals and run group supervision (when there are enough numbers)

I've been working as a Supervisor since 2014, when I qualified with a PG Dip in Supervision (BACP Accred) Level 6.

Most of my Supervisees have been with me, for at least 3 years.

I tend to use as a platform for my supervision the 'Proctor Model' which works on the 3 tenets of; Support, Education and Reflective practise, or the 7 eyed model. Often my supervisees depending upon where they are are in their career, look for support with their Certificate of Proficiency and or their Accreditation.

Practice description

I currently work online fulltime, but when able to offer face to face, I work from a small private clinic located in the heart of East Farleigh, (Near Maidstone).  It is completely confidential and offers adequate parking.

My first session

Typically, our first session will be a 'getting to know each other session'.

In my personal experience, it's been really important to find a supervisor that has 'a good fit' for me, hopefully, this will be a relationship that endures for many years. So I need to get a feel early on, if we speak the same therapy language, is there trust and do we share similar values?

I encourage all my supervisees to bring not only their successes but also the more challenging aspects of their work,so we can work in a collegiate way, to find good solutions to whatever the client difficulties may be.

In addition at our first session, I will be ensuring that the Supervisee has adequate hours of Supervision for the work they complete, insurance and like myself, are happy to sign up to and adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics.

If following the first session success, we both feel comfortable,  I will then book in our next session and draw up our Supervisory contract and we will be able to 'crack on'.
