About me and my therapy practice
Counselling does not give you the solution, but empowers you to grow and change.
It’s a process of exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment with a trained professional. Sometimes, it can be hard to talk about your feelings with friends and families.
My aim to offer you the space and time to make informed decisions about your life within a safe, trusting and accepting relationship.
I work with children, young people, adults, couples and families using Person Centred, CBT and DBT Approaches and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. With these approaches, together with self-exploration and reflection, I hope to work collaboratively with clients to enhance self-belief and make positive changes.
Practice description
I have many years’ experience working with individuals, couples, in schools and other settings who may be experiencing difficulties, especially during transition periods. This includes moving to schools/colleges/universities or developing mental health programmes/policies/protocols. I am also an approved provider for BUPA and other Employment Assistant Programmes. I work collaboratively with other agencies such as CAMHS and other health/mental health professionals.
I can offer psycho-education programmes focusing around mental health issues, such as, bereavement, anxieties, resilience, school refusal, behaviour management, peer mentoring in schools for small groups and/or parents. I can provide training, supervision and support for staff.
My first session
Each session lasts 50 minutes. During the first session, I aim to take a history of presenting issues, carry out an assessment and make a formulation with clients to determine a strategy on how best to support you. This may include asking lots of clarifying questions and agreeing a plan.
The number of sessions will vary according to your needs. I recommend starting with 3-6 sessions, after which we will review and assess the counselling. You are at liberty to end counselling when you feel ready.
