About me and my therapy practice
I believe one of the key values of counselling lies in giving time to those aspects of our lives which are causing us distress and preventing growth.
Whether we are experiencing issues ourselves or within our relationships, the success of our lives depends on our development and for us all we can experience times when this can feel difficult to achieve/experience.
Long standing issues impact on how we might react or see certain situations and counselling helps us to increase our understanding of how our patterns of behaviour have developed and, as a result, allow us to make new or different choices.
My aim as a counsellor is to form a relationship with my clients that reflects the individual nature of their personality and allows them to work at their own pace. Having a regular time and space within which difficulties can be safely and openly explored without fear of judgement, criticism or embarrassment can be the key to enabling change and development.
Counselling is appropriate for anyone who wants to explore their inner thoughts and emotions and better understand the resulting behaviours. Whilst the work can be challenging, for most people counselling is a positive experience which enables them to gain greater self-awareness and encourages them to live a life that is more satisfying.

My first session
I offer an initial session of 50 minutes in which I take client details and any previous experience of counselling is discussed, as I believe this can help to inform and enhance any future counselling work.
I encourage my client’s to allow themselves space after this initial session to consider the counsellor ‘fit’ for themselves - as I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is vital in its underpinning of the therapy/therapeutic relationship.
