Thankyou for looking at my profile. I am very sorry but at the moment, I do not have space to take on any new supervisees. I hope you are successful in your search. Best wishes
About me and my therapy practice
I work in partnership with my supervisees, placing heavy emphasis on the restorative aspects of supervision, providing advice and guidance where needed. My philosophy is person-centred/integrative and I am strongly committed to providing colleagues a safe space to reflect on their practice and recognise/develop strategies for managing the emotional impact of their work. I am pragmatic, positive and believe a supervisor’s key task is to encourage, motivate and inspire.
I have significant experience of coaching and mentoring as well as clinical supervision so am well placed to support colleagues facing organisational challenges or looking for help to manage difficult working relationships.
I have several supervisees who have been with me for many years going on to become supervisors themselves. I provide supervision to supervisors as well as practitioners.
I am able to meet in person with colleagues based in the NE, but during Covid shifted a significant amount of contact to telephone or video. Practicalities and preferences are usually explored during contracting and reviewed regularly.
Practice description
I began my professional career in 1986 in the field of Child and Adolescence Mental Health and have worked in a wide range of settings as counsellor, play therapist and family therapist. I have specialised in supervision and mentoring for over 30 years, developing a flexible and pragmatic approach. I draw on a wide range of tools that can be adapted to meet different needs. My client practice centres around post-abuse, bereavement and loss; my supervisees work across all areas of counselling and therapy.
I am a qualified Breathwork Coach and where helpful, can share techniques with supervisees who work with trauma or are interested in using breathwork in the management of anxiety.
Having worked as a clinical academic for many years, I have extensive experience of post graduate education and training and am in a good position to support colleagues new or returning to practice or those keen to develop and evidence their reflective practice/meet CPD requirements.
Accessing the right supervision is crucial so I encourage you to think carefully about your ‘ideal’ supervision and feel free to ask me lots of questions to see if my experience and approach look right for you. I’m happy to share my CV if that helps. Just ask when you send in your email enquiry.
My first session
Initial contact is by email, exchanging of further information/CV’s then followed up by telephone/video call. If we decide to proceed, initial contract is agreed and a first formal session held.
