About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced integrative counsellor, working with clients of all ages (teens and adults) from all backgrounds with a variety of issues including anxiety, stress, miscarriage, bereavement, family and relationship problems, low self-esteem and sexual abuse.

In addition to supporting in these areas, I also have a unique and thorough understanding of the pressures and issues facing young people from low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief to sexuality and academic stresses.

I understand how you may be unsure of what to expect or may feel apprehensive about beginning counselling sessions. That is why I offer a FREE 30-minute introductory call, where you can tell me about what is going on for you and ask any questions you may have. I will use this time to talk you through the counselling process and give you an understanding of how we might work together.

Practice description

I am qualified up to level 7 in counselling and psychotherapy and currently work in a higher education setting as a counsellor.

My training was on an integrative course. I would describe my practise as as collaborative pluralistic approach. The modalities I draw most heavily on are person centred, systemic therapy & solution focused therapy.

What this means as a client is, to understand you, I have to understand your ‘system’ / family. I explore where any common themes or narrative came from (exploring childhood) and implications this has for you now.

I also look at where you want to be and explore with you how you may get there, this is through solution focused / coaching work.

My person centred approach means I can keep the above in mind, however not stick to it so rigidly, allowing other issues come to the surface, so that they can be explored & identified.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to discuss what is bringing you to counselling. We can use this time to get a sense of how I work, before beginning sessions together.
