About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Jen and I'm a counsellor/CBT Therapist helping adult clients aged 21+ with bereavement and loss, anxiety, and depression. I'm currently working face to face from my therapy room in Peebles, Scottish Borders, online and on the telephone.

My experience extends to counselling with a national bereavement charity and I am an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist working with the pain of loss and change, and the anxiety and depression that can impact a person.  I have an interest in the menopause personally living with peri-menopause myself, so you’ll find a supportive ear if you’re experiencing this in addition to what else is troubling you.

I adhere to the ethics of 2 membership bodies (BACP and COSCA) and receive regular clinical supervision to ensure you receive the best possible support and your welfare is safeguarded.

A warm welcome awaits you whether online or in person.

Practice description

Are things just feeling out of kilter? Know something needs to change? Are you unsure what the right support is for your needs? Are you feeling anxious or low mood? Have you lost someone? Has your confidence dropped? In a time like no other, more than ever we need to focus on our mental health and wellbeing and invest in ourselves.

The beauty of my practice is recognising your individualisation and tailoring how I can help with your needs through a holistic approach encompassing counselling, CBT and wellbeing. We're people, we don't fit into one neat little box! With me you'll have a warm, confidential and safe space to talk.

The last few years I've helped the majority of my clients with bereavement, loss and profound change, anxiety and low mood. I've supported men and women of all ages but perhaps you should know I'm a peri-menopausal woman, so I can appreciate the rollercoaster that women 40+ are experiencing both mentally and physically. I get it!

I hope I've given you enough of a flavour of my approach, specialities, experience and of me as a human being not just a counsellor. In order for you to be sure you want to work with me I offer a free 20 minute consultation so you can then decide if you want to go ahead. I look forward to speaking with you.

My first session

After our initial consultation I will send you a contract, privacy notice, and information sheet depending on whether our sessions will be held online or in person.  Subject to your acceptance we will then arrange the first session date and time.

During the first session an assessment will be conducted and we will work together to agree on your goals for therapy and a plan of how we will achieve them.
