About me and my therapy practice

I have been working with individuals as a qualified counsellor/ psychotherapist for over 14 years.  In addition to working in private practice, I have worked for Mind, Kingston Bereavement Service and the Westminster Pastoral Foundation.

I normally work on a longer-term open-ended basis with individuals although I can also offer a time-limited option of 12 sessions.  I normally begin with an Initial Consultation.

I believe that there are a number of benefits in coming to counselling.  Attending on a weekly basis helps to provide a structure - a dedicated time and space - this in turn can provide a feeling of safety where difficult and personal issues can begin to be addressed.  Counselling may help you work through an external crisis and help to manage what may feel unmanageable;  it may help you to develop your potential;  to understand and work on areas of self-sabotage or unhelpful patterns; to help you cope with unwelcome external change.

I aim to offer respect, a positive regard and non-judgemental approach - in other words an impartial view.  This can allow you, the client, to explore thoughts and feelings which may be too difficult, conflicted or painful to share with family or friends and allow you a private, confidential space to talk through things.

Counselling is not about giving advice as the objective is to enable you, the client, to find the right path yourself and build on your own inner resources.

About me and my therapy practice

Counselling is often referred to as the 'talking cure'. The counsellor can offer respect, a positive regard and non-judgemental approach - in other words an impartial view. This space can allow you, the client, to explore thoughts or feelings which may be too difficult or painful to share with family or friends and allow you a private, confidential space to talk things through. I have 14 years experience as a general counsellor/ psychotherapist helping individuals to resolve a wide variety of issues. You may be coming to counselling to work through a transitional stage or crisis or you may be looking for change, or have a desire to develop your potential. Counselling can help in all these arenas.
