About me and my therapy practice
I currently have evening appointments and I am based in Knowle.
We all experience difficulties in our lives and sometimes we can feel overwhelmed, stuck or struggle to make changes to relieve our distress or problems. Meeting with a counsellor can help you talk about your story, opening up new opportunities to see yourself separate from your problems. By gaining a better understanding of the self you can bring an alternative story out of the shadows, which could empower you to make changes and improve your relationships. I have over 20 years’ experience working with people with mental health difficulties and currently work in the NHS with adults and young people who experience mental health problems and other complex needs.
My core approach is person centred; which means I will support you to gain an understanding of your difficulties from your perspective, and together find ways to move forward and reach your goals, developing your sense of self. I am also trained in psychodynamic, gestalt and transactional analysis approaches and have experience in compassion focused therapy and mindfulness and may draw upon these approaches during our sessions.
I offer short or long-term counselling and will suggest we have regular reviews to revisit your goals and agree further work. During sessions I may invite you to work creatively using symbols or suggest we do some art work to explore your feelings; creativity can be an opportunity to explore past, present or perceived future difficulties, this will be an invitation and always your choice.
