About me and my therapy practice

Based in York city centre, I am a BACP accredited Counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma offering support to adults with a wide range of issues.

Perhaps you are struggling with changes that seem out of your control, or feelings of isolation. Maybe you feel that you find yourself in the same situations, or that anxiety, low-confidence and low self-esteem are impacting on your daily life.

You may need space to heal after distressing life experiences.  Issues that have felt manageable up to now, or felt safely in the past, may have come to the surface.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space where we can work at a pace that feels right for you. Together we will work alongside one another to help you make sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings.

As an Integrative Humanistic counsellor, I will draw on counselling approaches most suited to your needs and find a way of working that is tailored to you. I will not give advice or opinions, but together we will build a therapeutic relationship, where you can be assured your thoughts and emotions will be truly heard and understood with respect and without judgement.

I am passionate about helping clients believe change and healing is possible and will aim to help you gain confidence, clarity, and new perspectives enabling you to make choices that feel right for you.

During my time working in a specialist sexual violence and domestic abuse organisation (Aegis), I supported clients who experienced PTSD, flashbacks and panic attacks. Many people struggled with relationships, self-doubt, trust, confusion and shame.

Having also worked in General and Charitable Counselling Organisations and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, I have experience working with a broad spectrum of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Our initial consultation session is free of charge with no obligation. You will choose whether counselling is on a long or short term basis.
