About me and my therapy practice

Welcome. My name is Julie - a qualified counsellor experienced in working with adults and young peopIe (16+). I am currently offering secure online and telephone counselling  to support you during this challenging time as we move towards easing of Covid restrictions.  I can also offer 'walk and talk' - outdoor sessions based in Portishead (BS20).  At the moment it feels like we are all facing different uncertainties and how we navigate our way back to a more 'normal' life. It may be that you are feeling anxious, fearful or a sense of loss. Online counselling can be helpful in exploring issues that are impacting your life at the moment. Perhaps there are aspects of life that you have been struggling with or questioning for a long time and would now welcome an opportunity to work through them - counselling can provide a confidential, non-judgmental space to safely speak about and explore the issues that are affecting you. Many clients are finding that online or phone counselling is beneficial in building a safe therapeutic relationship which is also flexible and accessible with no need to travel.


 


Practice description

I have studied a range of therapeutic approaches but at the heart of my counselling is a commitment to developing a relationship where you feel listened to, safe and accepted. I am an integrative Counsellor with a person-centred approach at the core of my therapy. 

I believe counselling can help you to find a stronger sense of self, greater understanding and fresh perspective.

My life experience and working background is broad and diverse and over the past 20 years I have worked with different organisations supporting people from all walks of life across many issues.


My first session

Finding the right counsellor can feel daunting. I provide a warm welcome and a calm presence to help put you at ease. I offer an initial phone call after your email enquiry to introduce myself and find out a little about what is bringing you to counselling.  We will also talk through the ways that I am working at the moment - online or by telephone or 'walk and talk' and how that can work for you.

Counselling sessions can be focussed and short-term or I can offer open-ended therapy where you can have as many sessions as you need and work at a pace that feels right for you.

I currently work on Mondays and Wednesdays.
