About me and my therapy practice
I have extensive experience supporting people in the throes of emotional distress such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, trauma, midlife crisis, grief and loss. I specialise in supporting people through confusing and ‘messy’ spiritual emergencies.
I believe passionately that periods of acute emotional pain, in which we feel ‘lost’ and without ground, if approached with compassion, curiosity and an openness to the possibility that your pain may have something important to say, can ultimately be a catalyst for positive transformation.
In my practice I draw predominantly on existential therapies, relational psychotherapy, elements of transactional analyses, Buddhist psychology and Jungian ideas. During therapy, together, we will turn towards your pain and try to understand the root of your psychological distress, rather than to merely treat symptoms, in contrast to other approaches such as CBT. So whether you are in the immediate storm of a crisis or plagued by an earlier trauma, together we can work towards a better understanding and decreasing the distress in your life.
I offer an initial free no obligation 30 min session, from my consulting room in central Brighton, that affords us an opportunity to gage whether we’d be a good fit to work therapeutically together. If you’d like to learn more about how I work visit my website: www.georgiecardtherapy.co.uk
