About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist and hold an ‘Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling’ from CPPD Counselling School in London, a course which is accredited by the BACP. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethics and guidelines. I attend regular supervision, have full professional indemnity insurance and have been checked for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

My counselling training was Humanistic Integrative, which means that I gained knowledge and experience of using a range of different theoretical models and approaches including person-centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, psychodynamic, attachment theory, transpersonal, solution-focussed brief therapy, mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. An integrative approach acknowledges that different clients have different needs and that no one single approach is sufficient.

After many years working in media as a television producer, I decided to find a career in a helping profession. Alongside my counselling practice, I have a background in education, working with children and young people with autism and learning difficulties and their families. I have helped a lot of people struggling with life and its many pressures and demands. The most important belief in my approach is the building of a good therapeutic relationship which is based on respect and empathy. I adapt my approach specifically to each client’s needs and choose methods which will be most helpful for you. I believe that every person is unique and provide a confidential, safe, supportive, trusting, collaborative, creative and non-judgemental space for listening, reflection and growth. I will work with you to help you understand your difficulties in greater depth, what caused them and empower you to find the best way forward to live in a more fulfilling way.
