About me and my therapy practice
I work with people who feel they need some support for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems or bereavement or perhaps as a result of childhood abuse or trauma.
Just being able to talk to someone in confidence is healing in itself and may be all that some people need. As a psychodynamic counsellor, however, I believe that current life issues often have their roots in what happened earlier in life. I believe that the healing process is more effective if there is some linking of the past to the present.
I also believe that everyone has a healing power within them and it is the counsellor’s role to help release that power.
Psychodynamic therapy is not generally about fixing a particular issue, although this can be a consequence. It covers the whole person – beliefs, attitudes, values, thought processes, emotions, and behaviours. Psychodynamic therapy is not for everyone as some have a specific issue that can be addressed by other types of counselling.
I offer short-term or open-ended counselling with regular weekly sessions of 50 minutes each.
