About me and my therapy practice
I understand that life can sometimes be a struggle and you may have become overwhelmed with distress, confusion and sadness. You may be aware of feeling ‘stuck’ in your life or be experiencing a period of low mood. Counselling with me provides you with a safe and confidential space where you can openly and honestly share your difficult situations, feelings and emotions.
I believe that talking to someone who can really hear you in a non-judgemental way, accept you as you are and empathise with what you are going through will assist you to move forward in your life. It is when you feel safe, heard and accepted that you have the freedom and possibility to change.
Counselling will also give you the opportunity to explore your personal growth and development within a supportive and trusting relationship. I can help you in finding meaning in your life and discovering your values, strengths, and choices. We will work together to enable you to start addressing the difficult situations that have brought you to counselling and the feelings and emotions that go alongside them.
I am a fully qualified professional counsellor and hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton. I also have a Certificate in Awareness in Bereavement Care, which I gained whilst working for the national charity organisation Cruse.
The areas I can help you with are listed below. I also have a special interest in:
~ Bereavement & Loss
~ Infertility & Childlessness
~ Menopause & Women’s Issues
~ Spirituality, Religion & Personal Faith
~ Family Dynamics & Work Related Issues
~ Finding Meaning & Purpose in Life
There is no set time limit on how long you might want to attend counselling; this could be short term, for example 6-12 sessions, or much longer term. The choice of how long to continue is totally down to you. If you would like to see if counselling is for you I would suggest trying an initial session. This initial session is a chance for us to meet and for you to find out what to expect from counselling and whether it is right for you. Please contact me to arrange an appointment.
