About me and my therapy practice
Coming to see a counsellor can in itself cause anxiety. Yet in my 20 years' experience of welcoming clients to my counselling room I have found that the quiet acceptance that I offer helps to lessen any fears. We all need space in our lives to think about what troubles us, however daunting this may seem; we all need to be listened to and supported through painful times.
Whether it be the loss of a loved one or of a relationship, the stresses of work or of no work, the struggle to grow in self-confidence, the misery of depression or the wretchedness of physical incapacity and illness, the difficulty of reconciling the needs of children, partner and work, the agony of infertility, miscarriage and postnatal depression, the fear, and possibly the experience, of death for oneself or another, whatever troubles you, I believe that it helps to talk and to be heard.
Emotional support that is confidential and non-judgemental may not always be available from family and friends. Talking to someone like myself who is not part of your everyday life may be the first step forward, however overwhelming your present anxiety and pain may be.
