About me and my therapy practice
I trained in Person Centred Counselling for 4 years and went on to do further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Teaching and Practice, Bereavement and Loss, Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Palliative Care.
As a person-centred counsellor, I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, beliefs and behaviours, and values, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. I will offer you compassion and a safe space, valuing your unique experiences, enabling you to learn new tools and techniques to enhance relationships and make important life decisions with a new sense of empowerment and independence. After all, the counselling sessions are about you and not me!
Sadly, due to the pandemic, I was forced to close my office and now work solely from home. I offer video and telephone Counselling and most of my clients say there is little difference, we are still the same people but just the setting has changed.

My first session
When you contact with me either by telephone or email, we will discuss the best time for your initial assessment. This is done over the telephone and lasts around 45 minutes. It is also free of charge as it is a ‘fact finding’ session, not a therapy session. I will ask you a series of questions during the assessment regarding your current difficulties, but also will ask you to help me understand more historically about you, which will give me some insight as to how it may have impacted on the current situation. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions about the therapy involved, what to expect in session and anything else you need in order to decide if you wish to move forwards with counselling.
Ongoing sessions will be agreed by us, choosing a day and time that suits us both. I start work at 12pm and finish at 8pm, Tuesday to Thursday and then from 9am to 12pm on Fridays. It is great if we can agree to a regular day and time for continuity, however, I understand this is not always possible so will be as flexible as possible.
During your assessment, I will ask you what your goals for Counselling are, as I feel it’s important to know what looks and feels like ‘progress’ to you, and that you are achieving what you set out to achieve.
Clients often ask me how many sessions will be needed and although an exact approximation is difficult, I will always assure clients that regular ‘check ins’ to see how we both feel the therapy is going, are completed every 4 to 6 sessions. Sometimes, short term therapy is enough to deal with the current difficulties, however, therapy has a way of peeling back the layers and sometimes other difficulties arise which can then be addressed.
Fees £60 per 50 minute session.
