About me and my therapy practice
I offer a calm and supportive presence for you to explore issues you bring and gain clarity about how to make changes in your life that you wish for.
I work collaboratively to empower you to make decisions that will bring about changes that will move you towards the life you want. I believe that life is a continuous learning curve and am motivated towards helping clients to achieve personal growth.
I understand my own nature to be sensitive, empathic, open minded, kind, respectful of and responsive to others needs. In my work I step aside from my own daily thoughts to a place of stillness where I can meet my clients empathically.
I believe each of us is unique having our own distinctive mix of beliefs and responses to life’s experiences, and that each of us is expert on ourselves and responsible about the choices we make in regards to our beliefs and behaviours.
Because we are unique, there is no ‘best fit’ therapy that suits everyone so I work in a pluralistic way. This means tailoring work to your specific needs including depth, pace and time scale of work and what approaches will be most helpful. By offering a non judgemental, calm presence, attentive listening and inquisitive enquiry I provide space for you to explore in safety, the issues which have brought you to therapy and their meaning to you.
I am confident to suggest ways that we may work together that feel comfortable and I often work in a creative way because this can be a powerful way to unlock emotions and issues which have become a ’stuck’. Working creatively is not about artistic skills (none are needed!) but using for example, ‘mark making’ on paper, working with clay or sand, in addition to talking therapy.
