About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, sad, or isolated? Are your feelings affecting your ability to cope? If you need support working through current or past issues, or if you are feeling unhappy, but the reasons are less clear, you are welcome to get in touch. I offer a safe confidential space for you to feel heard and accepted.
There are times when we all need some help or support. I can offer you safe and caring support through counselling. Pressures of life, responsibilities, changes, loss, or unresolved past experiences can all have an impact. When our personal resources have been used up, even a small amount of extra stress may feel overwhelming.
I believe that trust in the counselling relationship lies at the heart of effective therapy. So it is important for you to feel comfortable with your choice of counsellor.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I combine Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches. In this way I offer a safe and compassionate therapeutic relationship, together with support in understanding and focussing on your individual needs and concerns, so that we can work together to help you move forward.
I have a particular interest in the impact of identity and self worth on mental and emotional health and wellbeing and the need for compassion in all our lives.
As well as working with adults in my private practice, I have also worked with parents at a family support centre and with young adults and teenagers in a young people’s charity. I am also a school counsellor.
I have worked in education for many years, both with children in schools and in a professional body working with adults. I have knowledge and experience of the pressures of working in education, professional and self-employed settings.
My first sessionThe first session is a chance for us to meet either in person or by telephone/online. It's an opportunity for you to talk about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get from it. It's also a chance for you to experience a session, find out more and to see whether you feel you would like further sessions. Sessions can be arranged by email or we can speak on the telephone to arrange a session. Either way, you are welcome to ask any questions and talk about what you need help with before booking.
