About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly skilled and highly experienced counsellor (since 2007) and Clinical Supervisor (Advanced Diploma in Counselling Supervision NCP accredited level 7).  I have been working with clients on the impact of childhood trauma for over 20yrs. I work with issues that may have impacted you in your own childhood, such as family disputes, neglect, sexual abuse, divorced parents, domestic abuse, and homes where a parent (s) or caregiver may have had alcohol or substance dependency issues of some kind. I can work effectively with the effects of trauma and how this has impacted you in the past and in the here and now. You may have a sense of being impacted emotionally, psychologically and this may play out in your current life, often without realising it.  I am able to provide techniques and tools for trauma, alongside the hidden deeper parts of trauma that impact our lives in a way that can feel intricately woven. Together we can compassionately explore, your inner world, to gain understanding  of what is happening for you in the here and now. Together we will work towards a present and future that feels more fulfilling and calmer for you. It might be that individuals  feel a 'stuckness' in their life and relationships, or may have a cycle of entering into the same toxic or abusive relationships that always fail. The impact on your self could be low self esteem, low moods, anxiety to name  a few. It might be that things look successful in life, but inside you do not connect to the joy or meaning. I provide the right therapeutic setting so that you can safely work through your presenting issues, enabling you to gain new insight, understanding and a renewed sense of hope and purpose for the future.  Get in touch to see how this may work for you.

Practice description

I offer weekly sessions with regular reviews so that we can assess where you are at within your therapeutic journey.

I am an integrative therapist, and draw upon a range of theoretical approaches so that your therapy is unique to your requirements. I have a wealth of experience in continued practise that informs how i work, so that we can work together weekly to achieve your therapeutic goals.

At the start of our sessions we will work together to lay out your journey so far (what got you to here), and explore your needs, and wishes and requirements for therapy.

After the initial session we will work collaboratively together, reviewing your progress periodically to ensure we are working in a way that promotes a positive therapeutic experience for you.

I am also trained in visual and guided imagery, and work with creating calm in a world that may feel overwhelming in some way.

My first session

Initially there will be a short telephone consultation (free), of around 20 minutes. Here we will establish your needs and requirements, and whether you would like online or face to face sessions. We will also discuss your goals and desired outcomes. From there we can look at availability for both of us, If we are both happy and feel working together is right, we will book in your session and you can begin your therapy sessions.

Please contact me to explore how we might work together to support your professional practice.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly experienced integrative therapist and clinical supervisor. I have over 20 years experience of working within abuse and trauma. My areas of expertise are based around childhood trauma, childhood divorced/split parents, childhood sexual abuse, abandonment, childhood neglect, domestic abuse, rape, sexual assault, sex working  (included pre-trial therapy), and lastly adult children of parents that were in dependency. The basis for my practise is childhood experiences that still impact the adult child in the here and now, both conscious and unconscious.

The depth of my experience means that I work often with clients who present in chaos, distress, or the opposite and may be detached or avoidant from there experiences. These can be very challenging for a counsellor to navigate the deeper psychological impacts on a client. Together we can explore your experience of working with your clients so that you feel supported through the collaborative process when working with challenging clients, their mental health and the vast amount issues that arise from trauma.

In addition I  am a trained Freedom programme facilitator, which specialises in domestic Abuse. And I am, trained in visual and guided imagery which can help with low level anxieties, low moods and blockages.

I base my clinical supervision practice upon the theoretical models of the 7 eyed model and the cyclical model.

My solid experience as a therapist in the trauma field enables me to look compassionately and ethically at the challenges that you as a counsellor may experience. Working with clients is challenging and as a counsellor you will already be committed to professional and self development alongside a keenness to keep the self care balance of life alongside your practise. We will work in alignment with your governing body, to ensure ethical professional practise is our guideline.

Please contact me to explore how we might work together to support and grow continued your success for your practice.
