About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced humanistic counsellor with a First Class Honours Degree in Counselling and a certificate in Coaching. I have been practicing as a counsellor since 2010 and volunteered in both local and national charities during my training.

I work in a confidential, understanding and non-judgemental way, creating a safe and trusting environment for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and goals whilst respecting your uniqueness. I aim to create awareness and choice for you to experience a happier and more satisfying way of living. I work with an awareness of difference and diversity and welcome enquiries from people with health conditions and impairments.

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical framework. I am insured and undertake regular supervision, training and my own personal therapy.

I can work in the short term which is helpful when focusing on a single issue and in the longer term which can allow for deeper awareness to be made.

I practice from The Haven, near Rudgwick in West Sussex which is within easy access from Cranleigh, Horsham, Billingshurst, Godalming, Pulborough, Crawley and Guildford.

Practice description

Counselling provides the space to explore life’s issues and events whilst developing personal awareness working with feelings, thoughts, perceptions, behaviour and beliefs. Counselling facilitates greater awareness and understanding of yourself and your issues with the aim of experiencing life in a more satisfying way

Humanistic therapy uses a holistic, non-directive and non-judgemental approach. There is an emphasis on: meaning, choice, responsibility, self-development, self-awareness and empowering you to reach your full potential.

I incorporate theories and techniques as appropriate from the following theories:

Person centred therapy, Gestalt therapy, Existential philosophy, Transactional analysis, Solution focused therapy, attachment theory and loss and bereavement.

Working creatively: sometimes it can be difficult to access thoughts and feelings. By working creatively using different media such as shells, music, dreams, art or cards to create a visual representation of issues allows alternative perspectives to emerge.

As part of my membership with the BACP I undertake 30 hours training a year. I also watch relevant TV programmes and read books throughout the year.

In 2024 I will be attending the following training:

West Sussex Independent Visitor Scheme (20 hours)

Working with Relational Trauma (6 hours)

Increasing Inclusivity (6 hours)

Single Session Therapy (6 hours)

Sibling Issues (6 hours)
