Practice description

My original Counsellor Training was in the Humanistic Approach.  This means that I see you as a unique individual capable of making choices, asking for what you need and able to take responsibility for your own actions.

Once qualified I developed an interest in working with the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach to Counselling (thought and behavioural patterns) and feel the way I work as a Counsellor complements both theories and approaches.

I love working as a Counsellor because I have a desire to make a difference in the life of others

I have had many occasions in Counselling Practice where I have seen "light bulbs go on" and witnessed my client telling that their life has changed as a result of new insight.

This is a joy for me to be a part of.

Seeing another grow, through recognition that they can and realising that they can do this through their own abilities, is essentially why I work as a Counsellor.

My first session

When I embark on a Counselling relationship all I ever ask of myself is that I give my best to you, using the best techniques and theory, I am aware of to help and educate you

If you like, give you the tools to work with.

The rest is up to you, you work within the process and take what you need from it

Counselling is an equal partnership where we work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, patterns and options to enable you to make sense of your situation, whilst working towards coming terms with new experiences and facing them with less tension and anxiety.

Counselling involves looking at yourself and your problem and ways in which you can feel more at ease within your situation to begin to make decisions about where you want to be, by looking at where you are now

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.  If you decide that counselling may be of benefit to you and that I may be the right Counsellor for you, please contact me to make an appointment.

Many Thanks Katharine
